Glowleather Atelier Method
Producing a leather bag is more than just cutting and sewing. A successful production process is the result of a combination of proper planning, material selection, sample development, quality control, and timely delivery. At Glowleather Atelier, we plan each project according to the brand's needs and manage the production process step by step.
1. Starting with the Right Project
Many people think that bag production only changes the materials used. However, the reality is quite different.
The production of genuine leather bags is a completely different field of expertise than the production of bags using materials such as artificial leather, PU leather, canvas, or waterproofing.
The machines used, the production techniques, the workmanship, and even the experience of the craftsmen involved in production all differ.
Therefore, when a new project comes along at Glowleather Atelier, the first thing we consider is not the price.
Our first question is this:
"Does this project really fall within our area of expertise?"
Because we are a workshop that focuses solely on the production of genuine leather bags.
The craftsmanship, machinery, and production processes required when working with genuine leather are completely different from those used for bags made from synthetic materials.
This approach allows us to only accept projects where we can truly add value, and we plan production processes that will enable us to offer our customers the highest quality.
In our view, successful production begins with the right customer.
2. Every project begins with a conversation.
At Glowleather Atelier, the production process doesn't begin with technical drawings.
For us, the first step is to understand the brand.
Is it a new brand?
Is it a brand that has been operating for years?
Which customer base does it target?
In what price segment does it want to position itself?
The answers to these questions directly influence many decisions, from the type of leather and lining to the metal accessories and the production plan.
For example, it is not appropriate for a brand aiming to position itself in the luxury segment and a brand targeting the accessible price segment to produce their products using the same material combinations.
Similarly, the production schedule is another important factor determining the success of the project.
It's often unrealistic for a brand aiming to launch its winter collection to begin production planning in the fall.
Therefore, we consider not only production itself, but also the timely planning of production.
We try to understand the model before creating the technical drawing.
Many boutique brands only bring product photos to the initial meeting.
This is enough for us.
Because in the first stage, before creating technical drawings, we try to understand the character of the model.
The overall form of the model, its details, and especially its interior design, give us important information about the production process.
The inside of the bag is one of the most important areas determining the user experience.
The placement of zippered pockets, the phone compartment, internal organization, and usage habits are all topics that need to be discussed before preparing the more technical datasheet.
Feasibility Analysis
Not every design can be produced with every type of leather.
Thanks to years of manufacturing experience, we can assess potential risks right from the start of a project.
For example, the inside-out manufacturing technique used in some bag designs can cause unwanted wrinkles in soft nappa leather.
In situations like these, we don't just state the problem.
We suggest alternative leather types or manufacturing methods that will preserve the character of the model.
Our goal is not just to produce what the customer wants.
Our goal is to work together to develop the right product that can be used for years to come.
